Shannia’s Story

Welcome to my corner of the art world! Hi! I'm a 28-year-old artist with a passion that has evolved from a degree in elementary education to the vibrant realm of professional contemporary art. My spark for art ignited during my childhood, inspired by my grandmother's watercolor paintings and the artistic guidance of my aunts. From early lessons to college studies, I honed my skills and occasionally took on commissions.

Motherhood became a pivotal moment, steering me toward my lifelong dream of becoming a professional artist. I find purpose in raising my children at home and painting for others. Nature has always been my muse, growing up in the stunning landscapes of New England. My dream is to some day settle in a small cottage in the hills or mountains, where I can immerse myself in a holistic life surrounded by nature—a dream reflected in my dimensional landscape and floral paintings.

Today, I aspire to connect with individuals who share a love for nature, offering handmade luxury art that brings the outdoors inside. Whether you're a homeowner seeking to infuse your space with natural beauty or a business owner aiming to create a serene environment, my art is a bridge to a more connected and harmonious existence. Join me in transforming spaces into havens that resonate with the tranquility and beauty of the world around us.

Why “Shannia K”?

I wanted to honor my grandmother, Karen, by including my middle initial as a part of my brand. My grandmother battled glioblastoma, brain cancer, leading to her passing away in 2014. She is a big reason I am painting today; she was a tremendous inspiration and fueled my passion for art. Grandma specialized in watercolor and photography. I would spend many of my childhood years at her house, painting and drawing with my aunts. My foundational knowledge for art developed at her kitchen table. She was an incredible woman with a bright and generous spirit.

Grandma dressed me up in this pleasant dress and bonnet for one of her impromptu photoshoots. She would take most of her own photographs to use for her watercolor paintings.

She painted even after her diagnosis. In this photo she’s sitting at the same kitchen table where she gave me my first watercolor lesson. Here, sitting in a wheelchair and her right arm in a cast, with guidance from my aunts, she continued to paint. I believe that same gift and passion for art was passed on to me the moment I was given her name. It was planted inside of me like a seed and she helped water it.
